‘Shadowhunters’ season 2: First details on upcoming premiere

The second season of “Shadowhunters” is going to be coming your way on Freeform come January 2, and we are very much happy to have for you now a few more details regarding what’s coming up in the first episode! This is a show that isn’t exactly going to be using the popular TV device of a time jump; instead, we’re getting almost right back into the thick of things right away, and as a result of that, focusing on a wide array of different things that transpired at the end of last season and how they are impacting things now. The Institute is experiencing chaos, and the search for Jace is going to hit a rather quick snag.

Are there going to be some further problems that arise? Given what we know about this show, we have to imagine so! For now, though, we figure that we’ll just go ahead and give you some of the preliminary details about what you can expect to see:

“Only hours have passed since Jace left with Valentine and all hell has broken loose at The Institute. Alec, Isabelle and Clary are desperate to find Jace, but are quickly stopped in their tracks with the arrival of Victor Aldertree, who means business about getting the Institute back on track. But getting the New York Shadowhunters in-line with The Clave may be counterintuitive to Alec, Isabelle and Clary’s plan to rescue Jace.

“Meanwhile, Jocelyn has a lot to catch up on now that she is awake.”

we do like the notion of this show starting out being as relentless as possible, mostly because this could further enable the writers to really go all-out in an effort to push the limits of what the show can be. Also, it should be able to generate some excitement almost right away when that may not otherwise happen. It’s been off the air for a little while, so we would argue that it needs that spark.
