‘The Night Shift’ renewed by NBC for season 4
Tremendous news today for one of our favorite shows to cover: We’re going to be getting a lot more of “The Night Shift” coming up!
In a statement today, NBC confirmed that they are ordering the medical drama for a fourth season, which more than likely will air at some point in the summer. This move comes after months of waiting, which certainly put us at a stage of overall general unease. It performed solidly over the course of the summer, drawing numbers that are good enough to make it one of the biggest scripted shows on network TV during the time period. We were always fairly confident in the show’s future along the way because of it, especially when you consider how it was able to perform this well really without a huge influx of promotion or anything else behind it — and with it going on hiatus here and there for a variety of reasons. Consider it almost the TV version of the Little Engine that Could, driven almost entirely be enthusiastic fan support.
In a statement, NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke had the following to say:
“Week after week, The Night Shift tells incredibly engaging and emotional stories that draw us into a unique world … We are delighted to renew the show for an exciting fourth season and look forward to continue working with such a great cast and executive producing team.”
With this renewal in mind, we can now hopefully await some further details about what to expect over the course of the upcoming months. Given the wide array of different things that happened at the end of season 3, there’s still plenty of story left to be told. Like what’s happened to TC and Syd after that explosion or is Jordan going to choose TC or Scott??
