‘Empire’ season 3, episode 7 preview: What’s next for Taraji P. Henson’s Cookie?
Tonight’s new episode of “Empire” has a lot of interesting stuff going on, and some big reveals to go along with it. Who ever thought that Andre would be behind the hack as a way to make a power-move up the company ladder? It’s the sort of thing that makes for amazing entertainment, but it’s also the sort of thing that could cause his entire life to descend into chaos in the event that anyone ever finds out about it. The guy’s going to have to tread lightly, to quote a certain “Breaking Bad” character, in fear of getting found out.
We want to frame most of this article around the character of Cookie, though, given that emotionally, her story tonight was incredibly significant as she realized that she was in love with Angelo. However, she only realized this after she told him that they needed to break up, fearing that her past would come back and ruin his campaign for Mayor. That moment of him stripping down at the end of the episode suggested that the two parties may not be over just yet, and we’ve now got some further information about next week’s “What We May Be” that further suggests that this is the case.
Synopsis – “Cookie looks to Candace for tips on how to plan an elaborate family dinner that will impress Angelo’s mother, Diane (guest star Phylicia Rashad). Meanwhile, old home videos cause Cookie to face secrets about her relationship with her father that she had tried to hide from her kids, and Andre organizes an unlikely duet.”
Clearly, Cookie’s still interested in sticking with Angelo if she’s spending time with his mother, but what sort of emotions are going to get brought up courtesy of these home videos of her father? She was worried about her past coming back to hurt Angelo, but instead it may come back to hurt herself.
As for Andre, who wants to bet that this duet involves Nessa, given his apparent interest now in trying to sit on the Empire version of the Iron Throne with her as the queen?
