‘Gotham’ season 3, episode 10 preview: Bruce Wayne versus the Court of Owls

We are slowly now starting to get to the end of the first half of “Gotham” season 3, and with that in mind, we do imagine that there is going to be a certain degree of ramping-up that takes place in terms of the events that you get as a result of that. You want to do your best to ensure that you have some really great stuff saved for your final cliffhangers, just to further ensure there are some interesting things set up for the second half of the season. Take, for example, last year with Mr. Freeze. For the record, we’re still not quite sure the show ever gave us enough of that character.

Next week’s new episode may start to send us down that road, but we cannot say too much at the moment beyond the title: “Mad City: Timb Bomb.” Oh, and we do have a few more details from Fox.

Synopsis – “On the eve of their rehearsal dinner, a threat to Mario (guest star James Carpinello) and Lee (Morena Baccarin) is exposed, and Falcone (guest star John Doman) looks to Jim for help. Meanwhile, Nygma seeks revenge and Bruce learns more about The Court of Owls.”

What we’d really like at some point is an episode that dives almost exclusively into the Court of Owls mythology, including who they are, where they came from, and why they are so dangerous. For the best villains, we really think that this is worthwhile. We saw “Arrow” do this with Malcolm Merlyn and “The Walking Dead” do much of this with the Governor. While you don’t need to humanize them per se, you do want people to better understand precisely why they are so dangerous.

Promo – There’s a lot of good stuff in here, in between Falcone family drama and claims that “Gotham will burn.” In the end, what more could you want for something that’s setting up a clear stand-off with the Court of Owls?
