‘Bones’ season 12 video: The Zack Addy danger and more in first extended promo

The final season of “Bones” is going to be coming your way in the new year, and based on the first extended preview that we’ve got for you below (via TVLine) on the new season, one thing feels abundantly clear: There’s going to be a healthy mixture of wonderful nostalgia and danger across the board.

Let’s start here by getting the danger out of the way: Zack Addy still has Brennan captive, and it’s not entirely clear as of yet what he plans to do with her. For most of the premiere, we imagine that this ambiguity could persist, but we like to imagine that it will be resolved in due time. We’re still holding onto the belief that there is something going on here that is far more intricate than you are seeing with Zack taking her. We’ve already seen him become a darker character, so for us, we’d almost prefer if this ended up being a chance for him to earn a little bit of redemption.

As for the remainder of the preview, the primary focus there is on some of the warm, wonderful memories of Booth and Brennan we’ve come to have over the course of the series. This includes a wedding, becoming parents, or just them falling in love earlier in the series. While this show may be on an episodic basis about solving cases, in the end we like to think of it as a story that is a little bit more complicated than that, one of two people who cemented a legacy as heroes, and in the process found something within each other that they were sorely missing.
