‘Chicago PD’ season 4 spoilers: ‘Revenge’ alum Nick Wechsler joins in recurring role
There were already reasons aplenty to enjoy “Chicago PD” on the air, but there’s another coming out now: The change to see Nick Wechsler on the show for several episodes in the new year.
Per a new report coming in from The Hollywood Reporter, the former “Revenge” star will recur in several episodes as Kenny Rixton, a one-time protegee of Voight’s when the two worked together on the gang unit. There’s no precise word as of yet as to how long we’re going to see Wechsler around, but we certainly would not mind in the event he stuck around for the long haul. He’s an actor with such a natural ability to play a different array of characters.
The timing of this move is certainly no coincidence, given that “Chicago PD” has an opening right now in terms of key players. Jon Seda is departing to join the cast of “Chicago Justice,” and while we’ll still see Antonio Dawson on several shows, his screen time here will be much more limited. Having some new blood pop in around Intelligence does only seems to be the right move given that it keeps the show fresh — and also realistic. In life, there are going to be some people who stay put around a single part of the force for life; however, that’s not necessarily the case for everyone else. They’re going to shift and try out some other things to see if there is a better fit for them somewhere else out there.
New episodes of “Chicago PD” are going to start up again in early January, and there are still many important stories that will need to be taken on — including many crossovers with “Chicago Justice” on the way.
