‘The Voice’ season 11: Why Billy Gilman decided to take part
While we’d say that there is no one overwhelming favorite at the moment to win “The Voice” season 11, we do personally believe that Billy Gilman is near the top of that list, and for a perfectly good reason. He’s delivered many good performances, he charted well on iTunes without the results even mattering on this past episode, and he’s got a build-in audience that stems from having a hit song at a very young age.
So with his past success in mind, why did he decide to focus on this show in particular? That’s something that he explained in a new interview with Rolling Stone:
“I had been told ‘no’ so many times throughout my career, trying to come back, that I felt like if all these record people are saying, ‘No, people won’t get it,’ if I go in front of all these judges and in front of America, will they get it? There was a lot of scarring there. A lot of meetings took place with people, some of whom weren’t even in the music business anymore – certain record label heads that were fans of mine that I always went to for advice. They said, ‘What have you got to lose?’ That’s what really turned me on to doing it in the first place. What have I got to lose? There’s more to gain.”
Gilman also said that he was incredibly impressed with how active the coaches were with the artists, and that they will frequently communicate with you in an effort to ensure that you deliver the best performance possible. Billy is a member of Team Adam Levine, and we know that he’s been good at nurturing some past relationships with his artists and then also supporting them after the show is over.
As for where Billy stacks up in our personal rankings, we’ll be bringing you that tomorrow at this link. Stay tuned! (Photo: NBC.)
