‘Supergirl’ season 2 debate: Should Cyborg Superman become new Big Bad?

Supergirl -

We already know that “Supergirl” season 2’s got some rather cool things in store for us moving forward. After all, we’ve got the epic four-part crossover that is coming featuring many different characters from our favorite super hero shows all at the same time, and there’s also the most notable villain we’ve seen over the entire series so far; Cyborg Superman. You’ll meet him for the first time later this month, and in turn, hopefully we’ll know a little more about his creation, what he’s capable of, and the specific threat that he presents to Kara. This is some exciting stuff considering that Kara is pretty much indestructible!

Now, we pose a larger question: How much more of him should we see for the remainder of the season? The simple answer is that we really want to see him stick around and cause some chaos for a multitude of different reasons.

1. Kara needs a worthy opponent – To use a sports analogy, Kara is like playing Madden as the Patriots every week, when the majority of her opponents are the Browns. She’s just got so many powers, and other than Kryptonite, there are no easy ways to defeat her. Bringing in someone like Cyborg Superman gives her a genuinely terrifying opponent.

2. There’s a certain spark to him – The problem last season with Non was that he wasn’t the sort of interesting, colorful villain to suit the show’s aesthetic. Think of the Reverse-Flash as a good example of someone who’s incredibly evil, but at the same time feels like a genuine comic-book character and someone out of this world. Ironically, he’s a human and Non was an alien.

3. Potential personal ties – We know that Project Cadmus is an organization with ties to Kara’s adoptive father Jeremiah Danvers. Maybe stopping Cyborg Superman is the key to finding him? Or, maybe Cadmus mutated Jeremiah and turned him into this, which would be pretty devastating and give Kara another layer to her. Either way, there’s a clear motivation for Kara to go after him instead of just another standard villain. Give Kara some more meat to her story so viewers can become even more deeply involved in her.
