‘NCIS’ season 14 spoilers: Bishop faces a troubling part of her past; plus, meet her brothers!

Bishop -

So far this season on “NCIS,” Ellie Bishop hasn’t exactly had much of a spotlight on her — but given everything that’s going on, this makes sense. We’ve introduced new characters played by Wilmer Valderrama and Jennifer Esposito, reintroduced ourselves to Duane Henry’s character of Clayton Reeves, and also seen McGee pop the question to Delilah. There’s a lot going on!

Moving forward this season, though, the November 22 episode entitled “Enemy Combatant” should be an opportunity to see what’s going on in Bishop’s world, and also an appearance from her brothers John and Robert (Jesse Bradford and Jesse Johnson) as they try to figure out what’s going on in her life — and if she’s dating anyone. Given that it was at this point last year that things were starting to go wrong with her divorce, the timing does seem right for her to explore some new avenues of her life.

Unfortunately, not everything in this episode will be so lighthearted for the character, as she starts to question some of her past work with the NSA after traveling to Guantanamo Bay in order to gather evidence in the murder of a Navy Captain. We’re not sure what sort of work it was that she is now questioning, but she was young and early in her career at the time — with that, it’s perfectly reasonable to wonder if she was just in too deep on something without really knowing what it was. These are the sort of things that do have a tendency to happen sometimes early in your career.

For Emily Wickersham, we figure this will be some great material, and we’ll see if she has the spotlight for any other episodes beyond this as we move further into the season.
