‘The Flash’ season 3 spoilers: When will you learn Doctor Alchemy’s identity?
Last season, “The Flash” really kept you waiting before you learned the truth that Jay Garrick / Hunter Zolomon was Zoom, the Big Bad at the center of the story. This time around, the show seems to be doing something that is a little more generous and in line with the first season of the show: Revealing the identity of Doctor Alchemy by the end of the midseason finale.
Speaking per Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirms this news, though he offers up no hint regarding who this villain could be. It’s certainly possible that Alchemy is someone we’ve never met before, or a new incarnation of a villain the show had killed off before now. The troubling thing about revealing his alter ego now is that it seems so obvious it’d be Julian Albert given that there aren’t too many other candidates out there, and we still have a hard time believing that Tom Felton would be cast on the show just to be Barry’s foe-turned friend.
In addition to this Alchemy news, Kreisberg also offered up that we are going to have a chance to see Savitar, the other Big Bad for this season the “God of Speed,” at some point before we dive into the crossover event later this month. (Speaking of which, have you seen the first promo yet?) Like Alchemy, there is no official casting news for Savitar just yet.
As for what these two villains ultimately want, there is no precise word on that beyond the fact that their goals seem to be in some ways linked. Maybe Alchemy was created as a minion for Savitar to allow more meta-humans to try to come in and destroy The Flash before he gets close to rivaling his speed. That’s just a theory, and with that, we could be insanely off.
So long as these villains come at least reasonably close to capturing the fear and the danger of what we had from Zoom or the Reverse-Flash in season 1, we figure that we’ll be a rather-happy man in the end. (Photo: The CW.)
