‘Chicago PD’ season 4 fall finale preview: An active shooter targets the police
Tonight, we’re getting an episode of “Chicago PD” that is going to feature a rather robust storyline for Olinsky, but at the same time he’ll be forced to confront what really matters to him more than anything else: His career, or the people who are reasonably close to him.
So where are we going next week? Well, let’s just say that you’re getting more story than at any point this season so far! Because of the recent preemption NBC is pulling double-duty next week, and giving you two episodes that will hopefully transition you well into the holiday hiatus. All signs point to this being the end of the story for a while, and we’ve got some details on what you can expect.
“300,000 Likes” – “Voight (Jason Beghe) calls the team to investigate a homicide involving the only witness in a rape and murder case against an extremely young man, Oliver Tuxhorn (guest star Gus Halper). Intelligence looks into Tuxhorn’s family and their finances as they try to determine if someone was paid to take out the victim. Meanwhile, Stone (guest star Philip Winchester) offers Antonio (Jon Seda) a job as lead investigator for the state attorney’s office, and Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Sorensen’s (guest star Kevin Kane) body cameras capture a bizarre exchange with a man that they pull over.”
This certainly sounds like an episode, based on the title, where social media could have a major role. We would imagine that either Oliver is some sort of social-media star, or the body camera video could end up going viral in some way. If nothing else, this is our speculation for the time being.
“A Shot Heard Round the World” – “When a young officer is shot dead in the lobby of an apartment building, Intelligence looks to the latest known offenders who have threatened the police. But when a second officer is killed, the team finds that they are dealing with someone who is highly trained and knowledgeable. Voight (Jason Beghe) works to keep the case contained as they deal with Chicago’s ever-present war against the police. Meanwhile, Lindsay (Sophia Bush) confronts Antonio (Jon Seda) about his new job with the State’s Attorney.”
The main reason we seem to be getting these episodes right now is because of “Chicago Justice,” and the transition of Antonio over to that show prior to its premiere early next year.
Promo – NBC is really selling above all else the story about someone targeting police, and we understand why, given that this will be the most terrifying story for the main characters. It’s also the one that is probably ripped the most from the headlines, given everything that has transpired in Dallas and elsewhere over the past several months.
