‘The X Factor’ UK: Honey G confirms ‘Jump’ language use

X factor -

Welcome to this edition of “Honey G confirms things we already told you.”

You see, we try to think of ourselves as a purveyor of truth when it comes to “The X Factor,” given that there’s such a sea of nonsense out there in terms of false rumors about the show. We understand in many ways why this chatter starts, since often sensationalism is so much more fun than reality. This is why tabloids exist, and why so many people love to relish in the fiction of things that are not reality.

The issue with that comes when said reality hurts other people, and we do think that is the case when it comes to the controversy that Honey G supposedly uttered an “n-word” during her performance of “Jump” this past weekend. If you listened to the performance quickly, we understand how this could have been misinterpreted; instead of looking up the lyrics, though, it was easy to assume the worst given that this is a far more scandalous story. It was also easy to ignore some obvious signs that she never said anything of the sort. For example, if she had, we are pretty darn positive that we would’ve seen the show issue a full apology — heck, they may have kicked her out immediately from the competition.

We posted over the weekend what it is that Honey G really said, and now the rapper has done the same thing via her Twitter account below. While we certainly can understand not liking Honey or her place in the competition this season for a wide array of other reasons, you can’t exactly hate on her for this when she didn’t do much of anything wrong. She’s just trying to perform the way she knows how, which sometimes isn’t great, but isn’t trying to use any offensive language.
