‘Supernatural’ season 12, episode 5 preview: Hitler vs. a grenade launcher

The grenade launcher may be one of the Easter eggs within “Supernatural” that took the longest to pay off, but when it’s coming on Thursday’s upcoming episode entitled “The One You’ve Been Waiting For,” it’s pretty darn easy to have one reaction to it: Awesome. This past episode of the show was pretty emotional, in between the death of the young woman and all of the latest Winchester family drama. Sometimes, you just need to change things up with a sequel to “Everybody Hates Hitler,” a story that especially features Hitler’s soul being trapped in a gold watch and Sam and Dean doing everything within their power to ensure that he doesn’t come back and try to take over the world.

Is all of this entirely ridiculous? Absolutely, but what you may be forgetting here is that few shows handle ridiculous quite as wonderfully as “Supernatural” does.

Synopsis – “After learning that the soul of Adolf Hitler has been trapped in a 1930’s gold pocket watch, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) must act quickly to prevent a group of Nazi necromancers from resurrecting the Füror.”

This is a synopsis that we’ve looked at for a few weeks now, so there’s nothing new even within context after seeing this past episode that changes our perception of it all that much. The biggest takeaway that we have here is mostly that this could be a nice diversion from some of the larger storylines so far this season.

Promo – This is big, bold, and violent, which probably is what we want from just about any “Supernatural” promo given the current circumstances. We’re not going to advertise that this reinvents the wheel, but it’s entertaining and has us excited for what’s coming up next. In this circumstance, that’s enough.
