‘Outlander’ season 3: One distinct change in filming
The third season of “Outlander” may not premiere until the spring, but it is rather nice to still have a little bit more in the way of news to share about it!
Specifically, here we are talking about one significant change that seems to be happening over the filming process this time, and that is a case that is much more divided. Due to the nature of the story in the new season, Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe are spending less time filming together, which of course means quite an adjustment period. This is something that Heughan discussed further in an interview on the subject to Vanity Fair:
“Honestly, it’s like having a death in the family. Well, I don’t know, I mean, it’s just like a different show. It’s hard to separate yourself from the character. Jamie’s present, living in his world, and Claire’s present and living in her world, and they both believe the other is dead. It’s always hard when we’re apart, actually, because she’s a great person, great to come to work with, and a very good actress. But I think it all adds to the reunion—if there’s a reunion, or when there’s a reunion—well you know there’s one in the books. It should be very special.”
Whenever it happens in the third season, we’re sure that it will be as lovely a moment as you would anticipate. Where we presume there is some drama here on the subject is that just because a reunion happens at some point within the third book doesn’t mean that it will come at the same point on the show. While the writers / producers choose to stay fairly faithful to the source material, they have at the same time found a few spots here and there in order to mix things up. There is something fun in doing so, while at the same time there are needs sometimes to tell stories differently in the television medium. We had one great example of that in how the show chose to start off season 2.
