‘Chicago Fire’ season 5 spoilers: Show boss on Severide’s new struggle
The good news for Kelly Severide at present on “Chicago Fire” is that he’s somewhat in the clear following what happened to Grant. However, at the same time there are also some indicators out there that there are going to be some pretty touch times ahead for him.
Specifically, we’re talking about this through the vantage point of what we’re going to see in terms of social media star Travis (Scott Elrod), who we met on this past episode. He’s a guy who very much likes the party lifestyle, and he’s also a guy who could get Severide hooked on it at the same time. That’s dangerous, especially if there is a chance at some point down the road that we get to see him and Kidd work things out.
In speaking about the Travis – Kelly dynamic to TV Guide, executive producer Michael Brandt noted that the newcomer “will be the devil on Severide’s shoulder for a good part of this opening half of the season.” Meanwhile, Stella potentially serves as the angel, but who will Severide listen to? He’s a guy with a great capacity for doing great things, but also at the same time someone with the potential to both cause and get in a little bit of trouble. Over the course of this upcoming season, we’re going to get a pretty good opportunity to see precisely where the needle points in terms of his own willpower.
What we’d like to think at this point is that Severide is ready to settle in to a more stable, permanent future. While the partying may be fun, he has to know at this point that it is not going to last.
