‘Supergirl’ season 2 video: Melissa Benoist looks at Kara’s professional future
With the season 2 premiere of “Supergirl” coming onto The CW tonight, we’re certainly going to have plenty of time to discuss the latest costumed heroics for one Kara Danvers; but, at the same time, there are also some other parts of her life that leave some opportunities open for heroism. Her professional career is one of them.
While it may not be the flashiest video that The CW has ever released, we like that the clip below features Melissa Benoist talking exclusively about her character’s human alter ego and some of the challenges that await her. For one, she needs to figure out specifically what it is that she wants to do with her future. She’s got a new office, and eventually, that will come with a new boss in Snapper Carr (Ian Gomez) who cares very little about what Kara wants or needs. While Cat Grant may not have been particularly sympathetic at times, we learned that she did eventually have a soft spot in her heart for Kara — hey, she did acknowledge at the end of season 1 that she knew her last name!
This video also gives you a small sneak peek at a season 2 conversation between Kara and Cat; while Calista Flockhart is no longer a regular on the show, she will make sporadic appearances, including this one in the premiere. Managing to keep her in the cast is one of the many welcome surprises that came out of the move to The CW; at one point, this was not something we were sure would be taking place.
Tonight’s episode will of course also feature the debut of Tyler Hoechlin as Superman, but we figure that you’ve heard quite a bit about him already.
