‘Arrow’ season 5 spoilers: More news on Cody Rhodes appearance

There’s no denying that Cody Rhodes on “Arrow” is an exciting proposition just on paper alone. Dating back to the wrestler’s days on the WWE, he and Stephen Amell had a tremendous back-and-forth that led to the actor even entering the ring against Stardust. They’ve kept that friendship since, and there was tremendous excitement it his casting was first announced.

Now, we are happy to have some further news on his role! Rhodes is appearing on the third episode of the season entitled “A Matter of Trust,” and it will air on Wednesday, October 19. Based on the synopsis below, it looks as though he will be a villain who challenges the Green Arrow in new and interesting ways:

“Now that Oliver (Stephen Amell) has his new team, they are ready to hit the streets but Oliver doesn’t feel they are ready. Headstrong Wild Dog (guest star Rick Gonzalez) defies the Green Arrow’s orders and sets out on his own after a new drug dealer, Garret Runnels (guest star Cody Rhodes), who is terrorizing Star City. Runnels proves more powerful than Wild Dog and it is up to the Green Arrow to go head to head with Runnels to save his teammate.”

Meanwhile, if we end up loving the Wild Dog character, this could also be a wonderful story to get to know him a little bit better. We know that there are people out there grumbling about so many new team members, but our philosophy is rather simple: So long as they are engaging to watch and you still make time for the familiar faces, we really don’t mind having new people to watch.
