‘Agents of SHIELD’ season 4 premiere reaction: Show exec on ‘what’s in the box?’ mystery
After the season premiere of Marvel’s “Agents of SHIELD” on ABC Monday night, one thing remains clear: The show’s writers are very much down to continue making you wonder the answer to many key questions, whether it be the ultimate motives of Ghost Rider or figuring out precisely what was within that box that impacted Melinda May to such a great extent. This was a box that the team managed to track down, but by the time that they did and saw some sort of spirit-like being within, it definitely makes you wonder if they would’ve been better off not finding it at all.
Ultimately, there will be answers as to what this was, but you’re probably going to have to wait a little longer until “Doctor Strange” hits theaters to find out. For more, here is what executive producer Jed Whedon had to say per Entertainment Weekly at a recent screening event:
“We are introducing a different supernatural element of the MCU, which happens to coincide with the release of Doctor Strange … So that’s what’s in the box — we can’t tell you, but something along those lines.”
Whatever this box contains, it is probably not done having a substantial impact on these characters just yet, and we would like to hope that it’s tied in to the whole Ghost Rider story somehow. As much as we loved seeing the comic character in the premiere (and trust us — we really loved it), we’re not going to sit here and pretend as though it was not relatively random to everything else that is going on with the show.
