NBC’s ‘The Voice’ video: Ali Caldwell auditions to ‘Dangerous Woman’

With the season premiere of “The Voice” coming on NBC Monday night, the network is starting to do something that we can certainly get behind and celebrate: Releasing some sneak peeks of what to expect during the first proper Blind Audition episode! Sure, we did have a really brief special during the Olympics, but this is when we’re going to have a chance to see the coaches actually start to construct their teams, hunt down talent, and try to strategize as to the best way to recruit people.

For the sneak peek below, the focus is entirely on one Ali Caldwell, a very talented woman who chooses to try out with “Dangerous Woman.” With a voice like this, it’s pretty clear that Ali can do just about anything that she wants to. Therefore, we’re glad we chose something current rather than just another edition from the Whitney Houston / Mariah Carey songbook.

Do several of the judges give Ali some good advice? Sure, but the person we think may be best for her could surprise at least a few people out there: Miley Cyrus, at least based on the pitch that was given.

We gotta say that we really love what Miley has to say in here, telling her that she would want to find songs for her to perform that nobody would expect, since she doesn’t want to shove her into the box of “singer with a huge voice who does huge songs every week.” If this is how Miley is going to go about coaching, breaking singing-show cliches in half, than she could be an even better addition to this
