‘Doctor Who’ Christmas Special 2016: The hype is real

Doctor Who -The tenth season of “Doctor Who” is not going to be premiering on the BBC until next year, but before we roll around to that, there are some other orders of business to attend to — and we’re namely talking here about the upcoming Christmas Special. The network has not said a whole lot about what is coming up this December, though we presume that it will help bridge the gap between “The Husbands of River Song” (a.k.a. last year’s special) and what we are going to have with Pearl Mackie making her big debut as Bill.

For the time being, what we can say is this: “Sherlock” co-creator Mark Gatiss (who works with “Doctor Who” showrunner Steven Moffat on that series) feels like this is one of the best scripts that he has seen. Take a look, per the Radio Times, at what he had to say at the Victoria & Albert Museum members’ talk:

“I think the Christmas special… which is the only one this year…I think is one of Steve’s best ever scripts, absolutely beautiful … It made me cry.”

If that is not a tease that gets you excited about what is coming up next, what will? We imagine that at some point in a month or two, the BBC will start to give out a few more details about the story for this special. While the network does like to keep things quiet, at the same exact time they do tend to give us at least a few different little teases here and there along the way.
