NBC’s ‘The Voice’ star Miley Cyrus — no more interest in red carpets
While we don’t typically write too much about celebrity interests when it comes to red-carpet interviews, this one is especially interesting because it revolves around Miley Cyrus’ red-carpet philosophy right before appearing on “The Voice” — otherwise known as a place where there are countless red-carpet interviews over the course of a season.
Speaking in a new interview with Elle, the “Wrecking Ball” singer makes it clear that she feels a sort of guilt when doing red-carpet events, and therefore has no real desire to continue doing them:
“[Last year] I had to do the [Netflix’s ‘A Very Murray Christmas’] premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again … Why, when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red, because I’m ‘important,’ Because I’m ‘famous’? That’s not how I roll. It’s like a skit, it’s like ‘Zoolander’.”
Is there any real value in someone like Miley continuing to do these appearances? We’re torn on the idea. Red carpets are fascinating sometimes because of fashion, or because you want to look like you’re putting the work in to support your product. Yet, at the same time we also find the majority of red-carpet interviews to be pure fluff, since you’re having to do tiny bite-sized interviews and there’s no real time to offer up any sort of context or actual opinion. You’re just ushered from one person over to the next.
In the end, there are times when we do appreciate red-carpet events and interviews even with their limitations; with that said, you really shouldn’t have to do them unless you really want to. Otherwise, what’s anyone going to get out of them?
