‘Poldark’ season 2: Aidan Turner speaks out further on shirtless scenes

Poldark -

So far through one season, “Poldark” has attracted some fame for many different reasons, with one of the biggest ones being its leading man in Aidan Turner. He brings a variety of layers to the Ross Poldark character, but there’s a certain part of the performance that many people online have taken notice of and it has to do with a certain … aesthetic. Specifically, it has to do with Aidan having his shirt off.

Of course, we’re off two minds here. Viewers are going to enjoy watching whatever they enjoy watching, and trying to convince them otherwise seems like a lost cause. Yet, at the same time, we certainly get why Turner would feel uncomfortable about it. He didn’t sign on to do the show for the shirtless scenes, and he would likely much rather be remembered for his performance rather than what he looks like. With that in mind, we’re not shocked to see the actor tell the Mirror the following about trying to change things up for season 2:

“They were trying to make me take another dip in the sea this time, but it’s not in the books … It was in the books last time, but this time if it’s not in the books, I have a good fight not to do things … And I’m certainly fighting the cause to keep my clothes on for this one.”

We do also feel like there’s a certain of “if you do the same thing time and time again, it just feels cheesy” to it. If you’ve already seen shirtless Ross on a couple of occasions, why do it again unless it’s really needed?
