‘Dancing with the Stars 23’: What happened to JoJo Fletcher, Simone Biles?

For the most part, we would say that the cast for “Dancing with the Stars” season 23 came and went, and there wasn’t a whole lot about it that came about as a surprise. Yet, we do think that there are a couple of notable names who were discussed out there in the press who weren’t a part of the cast. It’s worth it to at least spend a minute or so wondering why.

JoJo Fletcher – This one is to us the most interesting, given that it seemed like the perfect time to bring a Bachelorette star onto the show. While there have been several former Bachelors who have entered the ballroom, you have to go back all the way to season 1 and Trista Sutter to find a former Bachelorette in the role. Why the long wait? JoJo’s season had strong ratings, so this felt like an easy way to capitalize on that. Maybe she wanted some time out of the spotlight, or producers for some reason wanted to go in a different direction.

For us, there are probably one or two names we’d put JoJo over who are in the cast this season.

Simone Biles – This one’s also interesting given that we heard for some time that there was mutual interest, but with a gymnastics tour coming up over the next few months, it felt like there was no way to make it work in terms of schedule. Yet, Laurie Hernandez is a part of this season, and she has roughly the same schedule.

We do hope that eventually Biles makes it onto the show this spring; we’ll see what happens.
