‘The X Factor’ UK review: Rebekah Ryan, Emily Middlemas, Saara Aalto perform in audition show #2

X Factor -

Sunday night’s “The X Factor” brought us the second round of auditions, and with that, hopefully another star or two will enter our midst! If nothing else, we at least some funny stories to discuss as the show continues to be fairly successful in their goal to present a slightly more humorous version of itself than we’ve seen as of late.

As you would expect at this point (or at least hopefully so), we’re going to be reviewing this episode LIVE as it goes on. Therefore, be sure to refresh this page as the night goes on.

Eddie Lee – He is complete camp, and we do see some of the Sir Tom Jones comparisons come into play. Also, he looks like a small version of Simon Cowell, so maybe he’s the result of some sort of science experiment where someone combined the DNA of the music mogul and the “It’s Not Unusual” singer.

Saara Aalto – She has some performing history from Finland, but this is her first time in Britain singing for the judges. (For the record, people really thinking that contestants on this show are undiscovered are completely out of their mind.) She’s really good, and personality-wise we think she’s likable and understands where she’s at in her career.

James Hughes – Sometimes, you don’t need to hear much before you realize that a singer is good. With the 17-year old James, it took only three words. At times he maybe milked notes a little too much, but he’s got a TON of soul and could become a younger version of Olly Murs.

Emily Middlemas – We vaguely remember Emily from two seasons ago, where she was eliminated at Judges’ Houses. After hearing her audition this time, that was the right move since she’s infinitely more confident and a better performer than she was. Also, she’s still only 17 years old and there’s a lot of room for her to grow. We do think the odds are high that she could make it all the way to live shows.

Rebekah Ryan – Let’s be honest: In between Emily and Rebekah, we had a whole parade of rubbish come through performing! Most of them were lacking something, but we absolutely believe in Rebekah’s talent. Granted, we totally blame production for this given that they made her bring her her dead child before actually performing.
