‘Hawaii Five-0’ season 7 spoilers: A change for McGarrett
When “Hawaii Five-0” season 7 premieres a little bit later this year on CBS, you could see some changes for a few characters — and when you think about what they’ve been through, a big part of it is fairly understandable.
Take, for example, with the character of Steve McGarrett, a guy who has clearly been through quite a bit since the start of last season. Look at the transplant he needed to have! While it may still be hard to keep the guy from his work in the field, the recent incident will at least cause him to start putting some more stock in the people and things in his life. It’s something that executive producer Peter M. Lenkov was careful to set up and describe in a new interview on the subject to TV Guide:
“[This season] goes right into a very poignant, more reflective McGarrett, thinking about everything that happened. He looks, at maybe his relationships have suffered because of his career … It’s sort of a theme that we start. Everybody in one way or another starts looking at the bigger picture in their lives. There’s more to being than just their jobs.”
While we’re not sure that we could picture this series working without Steve as a part of the Five-0, at the same time it does make some sense for all of them to start thinking about the future in one way or another. Everyone’s getting older, and the reality here is that there is only so long many of these people could go on doing these jobs. They’re putting their lives on the line, and it’s fair to say that they all have other things to live for beyond their duty in the field.
