‘Halt and Catch Fire’ season 3, episode 3 preview: Gordon and Donna’s collision course
Tonight, AMC premiered the first two episodes of “Halt and Catch Fire” season 3, and we certainly do hope that people out there enjoyed some of what we saw as the writers kicked off the Silicon Valley with something that many of these characters have not felt in some time happiness. For Donna and Cameron, that meant taking some steps forward with Mutiny, finding an investor in Diane Gould, and working to potentially buy a possible competitor who was ahead of the curve in certain technologies.
Meanwhile, for Joe MacMillan that meant embracing his role as the brilliant face behind a powerful organization, even if it may be one banking off of the paranoia of people still somewhat scared of modern technology and not understanding the boundaries.
Speaking of boundaries, they could be one of the key components in next week’s “Flipping the Switch,” as the AMC synopsis for the hour teases that Gordon and Donna’s home life could end up spilling into work and causing them trouble. Meanwhile, Joe, fresh off of hiring Ryan away from Mutiny, is going to hold court with the board. As for the nature of this meeting, that remains to be seen … but we certainly know that he is a master wordsmith and is capable of getting what he wants in almost any situation.
Ultimately, the general theme for next week, and possible the remainder of the season, is this: We’ve seen the Mutiny crew have some victories, so now may be the proper time to throw a few wrenches into the mix.
