‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13 (and ‘Scandal’ season 6 delay) hyped in new ABC promo
Thursday, September 22 is the beginning of ABC’s Thursday-night lineup for the fall season, otherwise known as the lineup that used to be called #TGIT.
Before we go any further here, let’s engage once more in a bit of a rant: Why are we shying away from the #TGIT name just because “Scandal” isn’t in here? It still feels like a terrible marketing move given that it A) suggests that the other shows are not worthy of the name without “Scandal” around and B) it makes it look like new drama “Notorious,” which is taking its place for the time being, is also not worthy.
Heck, we’re going to go ahead and say that “Notorious” is getting the short straw once again in the new promo below (via People Magazine). For a second or two in there, ABC’s voice-over suggests that “Notorious” is great mostly because it is better than having color bars on the screen in between “Grey’s Anatomy” and “How to Get Away with Murder.” Luckily, it gets better from there.
Our fear for “Notorious” as a fall series, and this is something that we’ll get into a little bit more during our Fall Preview series a little bit later this month, is that there are going to be quite a few people who opt against watching it merely because of the fact that it airs in the place of a show they love. Not every “Scandal” viewer may be aware that there is a reason for this in Kerry Washington’s pregnancy. Otherwise, we don’t think ABC would be changing an awful lot about what is otherwise a fairly stable lineup.
