‘The Blacklist’ season 4 spoilers: Megan Boone on the latest Liz fallout
During the finale for “The Blacklist” season 3, we had the ending that almost everyone saw coming: Elizabeth Keen was still alive. Writing her out for a time was necessarily due to Megan Boone’s pregnancy; what impressed us was that the show was able to at least fake her death in a compelling way that required some incredible smarts. Plus, it gave the Mr. Kaplan character some great material that we don’t often see.
Now that we know she’s alive, we come to the ramifications. Not everyone’s going to be pleased that they were punked, and understandably so. Regardless of the reasoning, it’s still a betrayal on some level as many people close to her may feel as though they were that one person she could have told since they NEVER would have given up her secret.
In setting up what this dynamic is going to look like, Megan Boone sets the table to Entertainment Weekly:
“They all have various levels of feeling betrayed by Liz,” Megan Boone says. “I also think they understand why she did what she did on a certain level. They’re just hurt because they had to go through the mourning process of her death. Now, of course, her being alive is great news, but it’s just really painful.”
This is the sort of thing where, at least to us, she has the capacity to win all of these people back once. If this is something that becomes a pattern (faking your death is the LAST thing you want to become a pattern), we don’t quite imagine anyone being so willing to extend the olive branch again.
