‘The Night Of’ episode 6 preview: Naz’s trial nears; an alliance gains steam
On tonight’s episode of “The Night Of” on HBO, what we saw can be effectively described as a hunt. Whether it be John Stone, Box, or the prosecutor in Helen Weiss, they were all searching for evidence to suit their own narrative when it came to Nasir and his guilt / innocence in Andrea’s death.
As for Naz himself, he was hunting simply for a chance to survive in Rikers Island. He has become fully entrenched in the gospel of Freddy, and that includes changing his look and learning how to properly “take care of himself.” Does this create more problems for himself as a seemingly innocent man? Certainly so, but this is also an indictment on the justice system, and sometimes a matter of waiting until trial can turn a man into something else.
For now, what we know about the next new episode entitled “Samson and Delilah” is that the bond between Naz and Freddy, no matter how you describe it, is going to become stronger behind bars. Meanwhile, on the other side Helen is going to be doing her part to prepare for the trial, which on paper seems almost like a slam dunk for her. She’s got the majority of the evidence, and also some witnesses that she can call on.
Perhaps the biggest tease we can offer, though, is that we may get some further answers regarding Duane Reade, the oddly-named person of interest who obviously had something to do with what happened to Naz. After all, Trevor is lying for a reason…
