‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13: Caterina Scorsone pregnant; will it influence story?
Mrs. Carter: Are there more changes coming Amelia’s way on “Grey’s Anatomy” this coming season?
Let’s begin this story with what is some great news: Caterina Scorsone is pregnant! The actress, who is playing this character on her second show after her stint on “Private Practice,” revealed while at TCA on Thursday that she is expecting her second child with husband Rob Giles. Their first child, Eliza, was born in July 2012.
As for whether or not we could see Scorsone’s pregnancy written into Amelia’s story (she and Owen just got married at the end of this past season), the actress is somewhat doubtful of that:
“I think they don’t want to burn through all that story, but I also think that last time they wrote my pregnancy in [on ‘Private Practice’], and I think Shonda [Rhimes] is going to give me a break on this one.”
If there is a show that should know a thing or two how to write in pregnancy, it is this one. After all, just ask Ellen Pompeo, Sarah Drew, or Jessica Capshaw, who have all welcomed children while working on the show (and this is just a small sample). Executive producer Shonda Rhimes also has experience on this with “Scandal” courtesy of Kerry Washington. We support not writing this one in, mostly because there are already so many baby-related stories and you want to diversify things. Also, there will be plenty of time for Amelia and Owen to become parents when the timing is right for the two of them.
