The third season of “Girl Meets World” may be at present just over a third of the way into its run, but for the cast, the Disney Channel series is wrapping things up … possibly for good.
There have been many concerns among the show’s fandom regarding whether or not this could be the final season, and for now the writers seem to be certainly hedging their best. In a post on Twitter, the show’s official writers room posted the following message:
“Feeny. Turner. Shawn. Eric. Alan. Amy. Minkus. Harley. Both Morgans. All stop by and help us make a decision.”
The most interesting part of the tweet to us is that both Lily Nicksay and Lindsay Ridgeway are going to be coming back. The two actresses played Morgan at different times over the course of the show’s run. Clearly, creator Michael Jacobs is preparing for the final episode as though there is no tomorrow, and they want to ensure that things end on the best note possible in the event that this is the end.
New episodes of “Girl Meets World” are going to continue to air on Friday nights while we await this finale, whenever it does air. We will continue to advocate that the timing is right for the show to move to Freeform for a fourth season, given that presumably the themes of the series would get more mature along with the show itself as Riley and company grow up. This was certainly something that happened with “Boy Meets World” over the years.
