‘The Originals’ season 4 video: Comic-Con teaser introduces older Hope

Given that “The Originals” is not exactly premiering on The CW anytime soon (it’s a midseason entry), can you really be that shocked that the show is making you wait to see the majority of its new footage?

The official Comic-Con trailer came out earlier this weekend, and if there was one way to describe it, we’d probably say that it is this: A recap. There is about ten or so seconds of new footage at the end here, and that comes in the form of Hayley and Hope, who is clearly no longer a baby.

At the time the show does come back, a significant amount of time will have passed, and in the process we hope to see some of the main characters wake up and realize exactly how much has changed. The season 3 finale was one of the boldest, craziest endings we’ve seen to a show all year, but when you’re dealing with immortals, you have the creative flexibility to do thins like lock them away in coffins. It’s certainly not something that is emulated everywhere else.

Hopefully, some further information will be released about the season in due time, but it should be noted that while season 8 of “The Vampire Diaries” is officially slated now to be its last, there is no word yet here. The ratings weren’t exactly great at the end of season 3, but we do certainly get the feeling that the passion is still there and in droves from the fans.
