‘The Fosters’ season 4, episode 5 video: Awkwardness abounds at Lena’s party

On Monday night’s new episode of “The Fosters,” Lena is going to be celebrating a birthday. Unfortunately, this is not one that seems to be going swimmingly.

In the sneak peek below from this episode, you can see just how awkward things are when Brandon’s grandparents learn a thing or two about him not living at home. Clearly, these two live in a somewhat-insular environment, given that we’re also not getting a sense that they were clued in very much about Brandon and Callie’s relationship history, either. They weren’t made aware of much of anything here until Jesus made it clear that they can stay at the home easily in Brandon’s room — after all, he wasn’t living there and didn’t need it.

As for whether or not this arrangement is permanent, we still have a super-difficult time feeling as though it is. Just remember for a moment or two here that Brandon is so young, and it is asking a tremendous amount of him to be able to support a kid at such a young age. Also, the cracks are starting to form in the relationship; she is forced to deal with a relentless amount of drama thanks to her ex, and at the same time, Brandon has already suggested at the party that he doesn’t quite think of Mason of his son. As a result of that, is he really going to be able to make this a cohesive family unit?

We like to think of this sneak peek as merely scratching the surface of all of the drama that could be coming up this season. We’ll see what happens!
