‘Bones’ season 12: Eric Millegan on Zack’s future
At the end of the “Bones” season 11 finale, we had what was one of the cooler reveals we’ve seen on the show in some time. After all, we saw the return of Zack Addy, a beloved character who has been gone for many years!
Granted, the big twist is that he was not back in the way you would expect. The finale made it seem as though Zack may have tricked the rest of the Jeffersonian away from the lab, and as a result of that, he captured Brennan … or did he? There is still a question as to whether or not he is the Puppeteer; speaking to Entertainment Weekly in a postmortem for the finale, Eric Millegan made it clear that some other members of the cast want to see him be one of the good guys:
“I went to lunch with Tamara Taylor [who plays Cam] a couple of weeks ago, and when she and T.J. [Thyne, who plays Hodgins] found out that I was coming back and that there was a possibility that I was this killer they’ve been tracking, they specifically talked to Michael Peterson, one of the showrunners, and said, ‘You can’t make him the killer! We’ve already been down that road. You have to make him the hero.’ So that was their input. They fought for my character.”
Unfortunately, we’re going to have to wait until next season to learn just where Zack lies on the needle from good to evil; it may be somewhere in between, or it’s possible that Taylor and Thyne’s input does not amount to much in the end.
