‘Bones’ season 11, episode 21 reaction: Big news for Hodgins
Next week on “Bones,” there are going to be some huge, super-scary ramifications coming courtesy of a certain killer named the Puppeteer … but before that, the story rolled around tonight to something focused instead on a jewel heist and so much more.
For the most part, we’d classify this episode in the “fun” category since there were not any moments of heavy drama or shock value in here. Instead, we got Gilles Marini, a secret plot to sell of heirlooms, and an inspector from France who came over to lend a helping hand. Most of the real enjoyment for us came out of seeing this man interact with Booth and Brennan, especially the latter since there is so much fun that come out of these fish-out-of-water sort of situations.
The real highlight for us tonight was learning that there may be a new method for Hodgins to eventually walk again, and if that is the case, it would be a nice topper on what has been a challenging season for the character. We do appreciate that the show did not just come up with some sort of quick fix to his struggle, especially since that in our mind would have minimized what he went through and the impact that it had on other characters.
We won’t lie that at times, “Bones” does show its age during its 11th season. There is very little it does that surprises us. Yet, there is something fun in the familiar, and at least “The Jewel in the Crown” brought us plenty of fun and a number of show staples.
