‘Community’ movie: Dan Harmon insists that it will happen … eventually

While it may not have looked for the past several months like #SixSeasonsAndAMovie would be a reality, don’t give up if you are a “Community” fan. After all, the show’s own creator in Dan Harmon is still interested in making something happen. For now, it’s largely a question about finding the right time, and also getting the right material together.

Speaking on a new episode of “Larry King Now,” Harmon said the following on some of the hangups:

“If I pull out a typewriter right now and write a ‘Community’ movie just for my own heart and mind, then I have to go through the heartbreak and agony of finding out which of the people are going to show up to make it. On the other hand, if I wait for everybody to line up and say ‘we’re all out of work and ready to do a ‘Community’ movie,’ then I guess that’s a bad idea, too.”

We do think that the majority of the original cast would be interested, even if you do have people like Joel McHale, Yvette Nicole Brown, Danny Pudi, Ken Jeong, and Gillian Jacbos who are currently series regulars on other shows. Then, you’ve also got people like Keith David, Jonathan Banks, Paget Brewster, or John Oliver who could in theory show up, but are extremely busy in their own right.

Then, you have people like Donald Glover who are not only super-busy with other projects, but also left the show in the first place. Chevy Chase is also out there, but given the Pierce Hawthorne is dead, it wouldn’t be as weird if he was absent from the show.
