‘Poldark’ renewed by BBC for season 3; Aidan Turner fans rejoice!
Here’s some great news coming in today for all fans of “Poldark“: The show is coming back! It’s funny in many ways how we’re getting the season 3 renewal announcement prior to even the premiere of season 2, but that’s precisely what we have going on at present. The BBC has the sort of confidence in this show that they can make this announcement early, and not really fear over any potential consequences such as the ratings being lower than season 1. They’re that optimistic that it will continue to be a success, and really understandably so all things considered.
In a statement confirming the news, managing director Damien Turner had the following to say:
“It’s with real excitement that we prepare for both the launch of series two and our return to Cornwall to shoot series three … Winston Graham and [scriptwriter] Debbie Horsfield’s extraordinary flair for storytelling means the saga of Ross, his friends and enemies will go to even more thrilling places.”
Another great reason to confirm the renewal now is to probably continue to lock in the series’ star in Aidan Turner, who has become over time increasingly in-demand for various projects, and has also been the subject of many film rumors. We’re glad that we will continue to see him and the rest of the cast on TV for a little while longer.
The third season of “Poldark” will air at some point in 2017; meanwhile, season 2 is set to premiere later this year in Britain. PBS has the broadcast rights here in America, but there is no precise word as of yet about the premiere date.
