‘Legends of Tomorrow’ season 2 spoilers: ‘The Originals’ alum cast as new Vixen!

LegendsIt was only weeks ago that we first learned that the character of Vixen was coming to “Legends of Tomorrow” season 2, but there was a pretty significant twist that was happening with it. Megalyn EK was not available to take the character full-time to the show, so they were instead going back in time to find a previous incarnation of the character.

With that, here is what we have. It has now been announced that Maisie Richardson-Sellers, previously of “The Originals” and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” will play the part of Amaya Jiwe, the grandmother of the character Mari McCabe played by EK on the animated series and on “Arrow.” Megalyn will continue to voice the character on CW Seed, and there’s always a possibility that she could turn up in some shape or form.

Of course, it would have been amazing if we were able to continue seeing Megalyn in this role. Yet, at the same time, we’re not altogether upset about the casting here. Richardson-Sellers has already been through this in one way, as she played a new version of Rebekah for a time on “The Originals” when Claire Holt was not available full-time and the producers still wanted to find a use for the character. She brought a lot to the character, and really made it her own. We have no doubt that she will be really good in bringing this new version of Vixen to life.

The second season of “Legends of Tomorrow” will premiere on The CW this October. We’ll have some additional news all about that over the weeks ahead, so stay tuned!
