‘Gotham’ season 3 spoilers: ‘Once Upon a Time’ actress Jamie Chung checks in

While the third season of “Gotham” has yet to begin filming, we do now have some of our latest substantial casting news! This time around, it is specifically in reference to a character with significant comic-book ties.

Per a report from TVLine, Jamie Chung of “Once Upon a Time” fame is going to be playing an intrepid journalist Valerie Vale, a woman who is still working to make a name for herself in the industry. Now, we’d heard previously many Vicki Vale stories with this season, and it’s fair to wonder if these are one and the same. It’s hard to say for sure right now; what we do know is that Valerie is the aunt of the famed comic-book reporter, so it is possible that we’ll see a younger version of Vicki at some point.

To us, casting Chung is a smart move mostly in that you’re bringing someone in who is already popular among many in the genre faithful. Plus, established names tend to yield a certain consistently of performance that is always appreciated.

Story-wise, getting a popular reporter in here also makes a certain degree of sense because Vicki is the sort of character people will more than likely get behind for a number of different reasons, with one of the biggest ones being that they can be a real asset in helping to expose who is really running Gotham. That is going to be one of the primary components to the show’s season 3 story.
