‘Game of Thrones’ season 6: Should the Lady Stoneheart talk be over now?
We certainly get it that Lady Stoneheart remains a key topic of conversation among “Game of Thrones” fans (especially book readers), but before this season, she had faded slightly into the background. There were questions regarding how much we were going to see Riverrun again, especially given that we got Jaime in Dorne last year before even getting around to this.
Yet, this season has sparked those rumors all over again, mostly because of the simple fact that we have spent a significant amount of time in the region and brought back many important characters related to the storyline, whether it be Edmure Tully or someone truly terrible in Walder Frey. Given that the Brotherhood Without Banners are tied to her story in the books, she could be hypothetically relevant this season even more so.
At this point, it seems like there’s a reason for all of the rumors to calm down. We’ve seen almost everyone related to her story now on the show, and nobody’s mentioned Catelyn Stark coming back from the dead. We saw Beric and the Brotherhood last night, and she was not with them. We know that time in Westeros is rather complicated in how it is processed for the show (it’s almost a flat circle — not really), but some time has passed since Robb and Catelyn were first killed off and she is nowhere to be seen.
Ultimately, we understand the fascination with the character, but is there any real reason to bring the character on still? Some of the stuff she’s most known for on the show, for example, qualifies as stuff we don’t want to see. (Warning: Book spoilers ahead!) Do you really want to see Brienne get executed over having Jaime’s sword? Even if Jaime now technically gave it to her, and may not matter all that much.
