‘Grey’s Anatomy’ season 13: Kevin McKidd, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, James Pickens, Jr. sign up

Grey's AnatomyFor all of those people out there who love “Grey’s Anatomy,” brace yourself to celebrate: Many of your favorites are now coming back!

Sources confirm that original cast members Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, and James Pickens Jr. have all signed new deals to return for the upcoming 13th season of the show; not only that, but longtime cast member Kevin McKidd is also officially on board. There was never any doubt that any of these cast members would return, given they had never indicated anything otherwise.

This news follows a strong of other renewals and departures. At the end of season 12, Sara Ramirez decided that she was going to exit the ABC drama; meanwhile, Ellen Pompeo has already renewed her deal for season 13, so there is no cause for alarm.

As for whether or not season 13 could be the show’s last, we’re not counting on it. There has been zero talk on the subject from showrunner Shonda Rhimes, and the show is coming off of being the #1 scripted drama on ABC in the adults 18-49 demographic. For any show to be doing that after more than a decade into its run is certainly astounding and then some.

The new season will premiere later this fall on ABC, with filming kicking off this summer. Among the big cliffhangers are the future of Alex and Jo after a particularly awkward situation involving Andrew, and then also how Owen will be settling into being married to Amelia. (We’re at least assuming the two tied the knot.)
