‘Gotham’ season 3 spoilers: Vicki Vale is coming!

While we’ve talked a lot about “Gotham” villains who could be surfacing on the show at some point during season 3, why not focus for a minute on someone else in the universe?

According to TVLine, the character “Valerie” that has been mentioned as of late in casting breakdowns is none other than Vicki Vale. If you’re familiar with the Batman comics, you’re probably very familiar with this character, who has been a reporter, TV host, gossip journalist, and even a Bruce Wayne love interest depending on what series you’re looking at. She’s one of those characters who is rarely in the spotlight, but is often present in some shape or form. She may be one of the most omnipresent characters of the past several decades.

The “Gotham” version of the character is going to be an upstart young journalist, so it will be interesting to see precisely how she factors into the larger story. It does feel fairly easy to figure out here that Vicki could be useful in showing a different side of Gotham, given that we have not always seen things from the media point of view, and in between the police force and the Mayor’s office, there has definitely been a lot over the course of the past several years that could be in the headlines.

Also, we wonder if Vicki could emerge as a thorn in Bruce Wayne’s side if she tries to press him on information relating to Wayne Enterprises that he may not be ready to share. Even though he’s still a kid, would that stop her? It’s just interesting given that in the comics, Vicki was one of the people who would often press Bruce about the identity of Batman.
