‘Arrow’ season 5: Stephen Amell looks towards (possible) four-part crossover
While it’s amazing that there are going to be four superhero shows on The CW this coming fall, it also poses a series of challenges … especially when it comes to crossover events. We know that the network wants to make something happen with “Supergirl,” “Arrow,” “The Flash,” and “Legends of Tomorrow,” but logistically, it’s something we still wonder about in terms of how it’s going to work. How will Kara, who is basically infinitely more powerful than most of our other characters, going to function in a world like Star City on “Arrow”? It’s a question that there is not much of a firm answer on.
What we are seeing right now is that Stephen Amell has many of the same questions. While promoting “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows,” the actor told the following to MTV News:
“They have to show me how they’re going to do this magical four-show crossover. It was hard enough when it was two shows and mixing in Legends a little bit. To make it four shows? I’m dumbfounded.”
This may not be the most popular opinion out there, but we don’t necessarily even think that we need to have a four-part crossover featuring all of these shows. We actually would be fine if it didn’t happen unless there is a really amazing story at the center of it. For example, it’s hard to mold a show like “Arrow,” which is far more grounded, into some of the others that are a little more comical and based more around superpowers. Amell has said often through his tour that he would like season 5 to be more grounded and a little similar to the show’s original tone, and we agree with that given that is when it had some of its best days.
