‘Ballers’ season 2 trailer: Dwayne Johnson shares new video of HBO comedy’s return

Even though Dwayne Johnson may be one of the biggest stars out there, we’re still somewhat surprised that “Ballers” doesn’t get more attention than it does. It’s a funny show that is on a network in HBO known for making them. It also tackles the sports underbelly in a way that feels authentic and different than how many other shows choose to.

As a means of further preparing us for the second-season premiere on July 17, Johnson himself shared the latest trailer (see below) on Twitter. This time around, his character of Spencer is going to continue to do his part to move up the sports agency ladder alongside Joe (Rob Corddry). This is a competitive world, and one where being a former player may not help Spencer as much as he probably wishes that it does. He’ll have to do whatever he can to keep some of his clients, especially as other rivals (we’ve got one in the trailer) along with the athletes themselves cause a little bit of jeopardy.

While it’s hard to get a full sense of an entire season based solely on a trailer, it does look like Ricky’s going to get plenty of time in the spotlight moving forward, and that always will have us happy. The same goes for Charles, who went on quite a whirlwind journey throughout season 1.
