‘Wayward Pines’ season 2 spoilers: Yet another origin story

Even though “Wayward Pines” is a show set in the future, there does seem to be a good bit of time being spent almost simultaneously when it comes to examining its past. for example, we know that we are going to see more of a deep-dive into the current leadership of the town, and moving beyond that, we’re also going to learn a thing or two about why and how it was created in the first place.

This particular subject could be a theme of the upcoming June 22 episode entitled “Sound the Alarm,” which certainly does not sound particularly hopeful just based on the name itself. The synopsis below also doesn’t really give many characters a reason to smile:

“Rebecca recalls first meeting Pilcher as an architect and the creation of Wayward Pines is revealed. Theo is shocked by a secret Rebecca divulges to him; Teresa tells CJ and Adam she wants to live outside the protected walls as Megan experiments on the first female Abbie that has been captured.”

We do think that season 2 has in some ways struggled as the show looks to try to establish some new equilibrium for itself; specifically, we think that it doesn’t quite have the big hook that it once did now that you know some of its greatest secrets. It is with that in mind that we presume the rest of the season is going to focus a little bit more on trying to uncover something else that will shock viewers and have them excited and/or hopeful for what is coming up down the road.
