‘Person of Interest’ season 5, episode 11 preview: Unraveling latest Amy Acker shock
Tonight, “Person of Interest” decided to basically give you as much of a gut-punch story as possible for the 100th episode, given that we lost a character in Root who was beloved in the time in which she was there. In her death, though, she does effectively become the Machine, so there’s a good chance you could at least hear Amy Acker’s voice over time.
We’re going to be digesting everything that happened with this episode over the course of the coming days, but we figure that for now, one of the best things that we can do is go ahead and offer up the latest CBS synopsis, this time for Tuesday night’s new episode “Synecdoche”:
“The team must unravel a conspiracy and stay ahead of the Secret Service when the President of the United States becomes their newest POI. Also, Finch separates himself from the team and considers taking drastic action to combat Samaritan.”
Obviously, the stakes are getting raised in a big way, and given what we saw on the show tonight, Reese and Finch are short someone incredibly valuable to the team. It’s going to be harder than ever to progress forward, and for these characters to start to keep their grasp on reality. Ultimately, it’s definitely something that we are looking forward to seeing unfold over the final episodes of the season … even if we are upset still in many ways by what we saw on the show tonight. We really wanted Finch, Root, Shaw, and Reese to make it to the end together.

With Root and Shaw POI had 2 of the most dangerous, most intelligent, and sexiest women on TV. Reese, Harold and Fusco were strong rocks that could be leaned on over and over. I believe that the casting for POI wast the best I have seen and I will miss the show a lot. Godspeed to all of you on your next projects. Never forget this one.

Amy Acker’s ‘Root’ was one of the greatest female characters in the history of network TV. No ifs, ands or buts.
