‘The Flash’ season 3 debate: Should Earth-1 Caitlin Snow become Killer Frost?

Killer Frost -

Through the second season of “The Flash,” we had a chance for the first time to see Caitlin Snow in the character of Killer Frost. However, it was not in the way it first seemed. It was actually the Earth-2 version of the character, and while we knew her to have a dark side, at the same time she also redeemed herself to a certain degree and showed that she does have a heart within all of that ice. If nothing else, she didn’t want to work with Zoom anymore.

Given that Earth-2 Killer Frost is now dead, where does this leave the character now? It’s certainly a good question, since Earth-1 Caitlin has yet to experience any powers. Could that change? That’s something we want to try and figure out to a certain extent.

The case for Caitlin becoming Killer Frost – For one, she’s doesn’t have to become evil. There are many iterations of the character in the comic books, and while we’d never call her a hero, some of them operate under a variety of intentions. Giving Caitlin this story now gives her a more personal journey beyond just mourning loved ones she’s lost or ones that have betrayed her. Too much of her narrative so far has been about romance. Vibe had a great season 2 story, and we feel like it’s now finally her chance to shine a little bit!

The case against it – You can still argue here mostly that there is no need to hurry this story along, given that we’re just entering the third season of something that could easily go for six or seven years. Also, you want to bring her along slowly, and so far, there hasn’t been much evidence that she could become Killer Frost in this world.

All we hope ultimately is that Caitlin’s not Killer Frost in Flashpoint, and the writers won’t just keep coming up with workarounds to give us the character without really giving us the character we want.
