Is ‘The Blacklist’ season 3 new tonight on NBC? What to look ahead to
For many weeks now, we’ve had the chance to see a super-complex story woven on “The Blacklist,” and in the season 3 finale, it all built to one of the biggest reveals of the entire series: With the help of Mr. Kaplan, Liz Keen was alive the entire time! She forged an elaborate plan to ensure she had a chance to start over, but alas, it eventually led to her being found by Alexander Kirk, and even more than that, learning of her true lineage as the daughter of a criminal mastermind … provided that he is telling the truth.
While it would be lovely to get more of the story tonight, the reality is that season 3 is over. Yesterday was the last day of May sweeps, and we’re now entering what is a little bit more of a lull that will more than likely last the remainder of the month. There are some summer series starting up soon, but we’ve got to sift through a lengthy waiting period before getting around to it.
As for when the fourth season of the show will start filming, think later this summer. Beyond that, we imagine that there will be some new episodes that air on NBC in late September / early October in a new timeslot: Thursdays at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time. We presume there will be some more updates on the show around then; more than that, we’re also likely going to be getting some other information on “The Blacklist: Redemption,” the spin-off series featuring Tom Keen slated to air in 2017.
