‘The Originals’ season 3 finale spoilers: The dangers of Claire Holt’s Rebekah coming back

Originals -There are quite a few things worth looking forward to on the finale of “The Originals” on Friday night, but one of the biggest ones is to bear witness to a battle that has been a long time in the making: Marcel vs. much of the Mikaelson family. We understand to a certain extent his rage (how could we not when you think about what Elijah did to him?), but we also hope that there is some way to avoid any further bloodshed given the people we’ve lost this season already.

Clearly, one of the aces that the family thinks that they have in the whole right now is none other than Rebekah (Claire Holt), who is returning this week after a substantial period time away. The hope here is that she may be able to get to Marcel in a way that nobody else will, but as executive producer Michael Narducci noted in a new interview with TVLine, she is going to have her own problems to deal with at the moment:

“What the promos don’t reveal is who brings her back, or the circumstances in which she’s brought back … She’s still not in her right state of mind. She’s been hexed, she has this thing growing on her arm, and the more it gets a hold on her, the more ripper-like she’ll become. … The hope is that she’ll be able to turn the tide, but she’s not going to be herself for very long, so there’s a danger in bringing her back.”

We’d love to see Holt return for a larger role during at least the early going of season 4, if for no other reason than that the idea of Rebekah as a ripper is something that, especially entertainment-wise, we can get behind. We’ll just have to see if that truly happens, and what the aftereffects of it could be.
