‘The Flash’ season 2, episode 22 photo: New look of Katie Cassidy as Black Siren

Black Siren -Tuesday night’s new episode of “The Flash” is obviously going to be an enormous one for the series, and for a wide array of reasons. For one, it’s the next chance to see a real showdown between the title character and Zoom, who really did not play much of a role in “The Runaway Dinosaur” until we got around to the end of it. Also, it’s going to be a chance to see a very different side of Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance.

To be fair, this is a very different Laurel than the one we saw as the Black Canary. This is the Earth-2 incarnation of the character otherwise known as Black Siren, and she seems to be the leader of the meta-human army Zoom has unleashed on Earth-1 in order to destroy Central City. He wants to conquer this and every Earth, and this is just one step along the way.

At some point in this episode we also figure that Caitlin Snow will factor into this story in her own way, mostly because of where she is right now and also Zoom’s personal attachment to her. (Personally, we’d love to see her eventually become Killer Frost in her own right, especially since the Earth-2 incarnation now seems to be gone.)

This is the last episode before the big finale, and the showdown with Zoom that will almost certainly be epic. Also, from here we’re going to have a chance to set up the story for season 3. We don’t know a whole lot just yet, but we’re hoping for another iconic villain to come on board.
